The day industry’s power was limited

On 30 June 2024, the day power limits on industry began, IDEM’s 5 MW plant went on line. Since then, on days of limited supply, the factory runs part of the day on its own power alone .

  1. Opening

    In the presence of the late Governor of East Azerbaijan, Dr Malek Rahmati, and IDEM’s managing director.

  2. On line

    The day wide power cuts to industry began, the plant passed the technical services tests and IDEM’s electrical unit put it on line.

  3. The governor’s visit

    Dr Bahram Sarmast, Governor of East Azerbaijan, toured the plant and IDEM’s production lines.

  4. Iran Khodro Diesel

    Iran Khodro Diesel’s managing director and deputies visited IDEM’s 5 MW plant.

  5. Tabriz power distribution

    The managing director of the Tabriz power distribution company reviewed the plant’s operation and capacity.

From the engine to the line

The plant’s power path, drawn the way its own switchboards draw it: each part lights up as the current reaches it.

  1. An IDEM diesel engine

    At the heart of every unit is a diesel engine IDEM makes in Tabriz.

  2. Diesel generator

    The generator is built onto an IDEM engine, and each unit’s panel controls and protects it.

  3. Transformer

    Above every unit sits its own transformer, carrying its power on to the switchboards.

  4. Switchboards

    The output of every unit is gathered on the busbar of the switchboards at the end of the hall.

  5. IDEM’s production lines

    On days of limited supply, the factory runs for part of the day on this plant alone.

  6. The city network

    At peak hours the factory leans less on the national grid, and the city network’s load eases.
